About

Mateo Palacios Corazzina, known professionally as Trueno, was born on March 25, 2002, in La Boca, Buenos Aires, Argentina. From an early age, Trueno developed an interest in rap, inspired by his father, MC Peligro, a significant figure in the Argentine hip-hop scene. This early exposure to the culture shaped his career path. Trueno began his journey in the rap battle scene, rising to prominence as a teen. In 2019, he achieved significant recognition by becoming the champion of the Argentine version of Red Bull’s Batalla de los Gallos and also finished first in the FMS Argentina competition. Later that year, his collaboration with Bizarrap on “BZRP Music Sessions #6” garnered over 250 million views on YouTube, becoming the platform’s most-viewed freestyle video.

In 2020, Trueno released his debut album, “Atrevido,” which included collaborations with artists such as Nicki Nicole, Bizarrap, WOS, and Aleman. The album’s hit single, “Mamichula,” featuring Nicki Nicole and produced by Bizarrap, quickly became a global success, accumulating over 100 million views on YouTube within a month and reaching the top position on the Argentina Hot 100 list. “Atrevido” achieved Quadruple Platinum status in Argentina, with nine tracks entering Spotify’s Top 50 in the region. Trueno’s subsequent protest album, “Bien o Mal,” released in 2022, addressed social issues like corruption and economic inequality in Latin America. This album further solidified his role as an artist using his platform for social commentary, earning him critical acclaim and the Album of the Year award at the 2023 Premios Gardel.

Trueno has continued to expand his international presence, performing at various music festivals and collaborating with notable artists including Gorillaz, Cypress Hill, J Balvin, and Feid. In 2024, he released his third studio album, “El Último Baile,” and debuted new music on platforms like A COLORS SHOW with his song ‘No Cap,’ which paid homage to 2000s rap. His consistent output and engagement with socially relevant themes have garnered him multiple awards, including several Premios Gardel and Latin Grammy Awards, such as Best Urban Fusion/Performance in 2024 for “Tranky Funky.” Trueno is known for his electrifying beats, lyrical skill, and impactful music videos, cementing his position as an influential voice in the Latin hip-hop genre.
