About

Voxtrot was formed in Austin, Texas, in 2003 by singer-songwriter Ramesh Srivastava. The initial lineup included Jennifer Moore and Brandon Eastes, which later solidified by 2005 to include Jason Chronis, Matt Simon, Mitch Calvert, and Jared van Fleet. Their first recordings were released in 2003, and the band gained early recognition with their self-released debut EP, “Raised by Wolves,” in 2005. This EP received critical acclaim from music bloggers and major publications such as Pitchfork and Spin, solidifying their presence during the rise of the early online music blogosphere. The band continued to release EPs, including “Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives” and “Your Biggest Fan” in 2006.

In 2007, Voxtrot released their self-titled debut album through Beggars Group. This album peaked at number 42 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. Following the album, the band toured with Au Revoir Simone and Favourite Sons in the summer of 2007. They released subsequent singles, “Trepanation Party” in 2009, which featured production from Jim Eno of Spoon, and “Berlin, Without Return…” in 2009, released through their own Cult Hero Records. However, in April 2010, Ramesh Srivastava announced the band’s disbandment, concluding with a farewell tour across the United States, ending on June 26, 2010. Following the disbandment, Srivastava pursued a solo career, releasing his debut album, “The King,” in 2014.

After a hiatus, Voxtrot announced a reunion on May 6, 2022, embarking on a tour and releasing archival recordings. This was followed by the reformation of the band and the announcement of new material in April 2023. They released “Another Fire” on September 22, 2023, their first new single in fourteen years, demonstrating a renewed creative output. Another single, “New World Romance,” was released on November 10, 2023, followed by “My Peace” and “They Never Mean What They Say” in 2024, and “Esprit de Cœur” also in 2024. These recent releases indicate a continued artistic evolution for the band.
