Voxtrot

Voxtrot cemented its place in indie pop by gaining critical acclaim for their self-released debut EP, Raised by Wolves, in 2005. Formed in Austin, Texas, in 2003 by singer-songwriter Ramesh Srivastava, the band’s initial recordings were released the same year, with the lineup solidifying by 2005 to include Jason Chronis, Matt Simon, Mitch Calvert, Jennifer Moore, Brandon Eastes, and Jared van Fleet. Raised by Wolves garnered significant praise from prominent music publications such as Pitchfork and Spin, establishing Voxtrot’s influential presence during the ascent of the early online music blogosphere. The band followed this success with two more EPs in 2006: Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives and Your Biggest Fan, the latter of which notably peaked at number 4 on the Hot Singles Sales chart.

In 2007, Voxtrot released their self-titled debut album through Beggars Group, achieving commercial success by peaking at number 42 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. Following the album’s release, the band embarked on a summer 2007 tour alongside Au Revoir Simone and Favourite Sons. Their creative output continued with the release of the single ‘Trepanation Party’ in 2009, featuring production by Jim Eno of Spoon, and ‘Berlin, Without Return…’ later that year, issued independently via their Cult Hero Records. However, the band announced its disbandment in April 2010, concluding with a farewell tour across the United States that wrapped on June 26, 2010.

They swiftly followed this with the single ‘New World Romance’ on November 10, 2023. Voxtrot has maintained a consistent creative output into the current year, releasing a series of new singles in 2024. These include ‘My Peace,’ ‘They Never Mean What They Say,’ and ‘Esprit de Cœur,’ showcasing the band’s ongoing artistic evolution and commitment to producing new material for their dedicated fanbase and new audiences alike.
