Adam Banks

Adam Banks began his career after graduating from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in Business Information Systems, joining International Computers Limited before transitioning to Lloyd’s of London. He spent sixteen years at Visa Europe, holding key technology positions that laid the groundwork for his future roles in driving business transformation. His early career focused on foundational technology and systems integration, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of complex digital infrastructures.

From 2015 to 2020, Adam served as Group Chief Information and Technology Officer at A.P. Moller Maersk, where he was responsible for global change, technology strategy, and delivery. During this period, he notably led the recovery efforts following a significant cyber-attack in 2017, an achievement recognized by various bodies, including The World Economic Forum. Prior to this, he was Executive Vice President, Technology, at Monitise and Chief Technology Officer and Head of Information Technology at Visa Europe, where he oversaw technology, customer services, and a substantial portion of the revenue base.

Currently, Adam holds several advisory and non-executive roles, leveraging his expertise in digital transformation and organizational change. He joined the TSB Board in February 2021 and was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of Thames Water in March 2025 (after serving as an Advisor since July 2024). He also sits on the boards of Finastra and serves as an advisor to Rio Tinto, Euroclear UK&I, and the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA). Adam is also the Chair of Vault Sentinel and Chair of the Board of Trustees for AuDHD UK. He is an Honorary Fellow of the British Computer Society.
