Adam Brody

Adam Jared Brody was born on December 15, 1979, in San Diego, California, to Valerie Jill Siefman, a graphic artist, and Mark Alan Brody, a lawyer. His parents, both from Jewish families originally from Michigan, raised Brody in suburban San Diego. During his teenage years, Brody spent much of his time surfing. After graduating high school, he attended MiraCosta College for a year before dropping out at age 19 to pursue acting in Hollywood. He hired an acting coach and signed with a talent manager, quickly securing roles that would launch his career.

Brody’s acting career began to gain momentum with his role as Barry Williams in the NBC movie-of-the-week, “Growing Up Brady” (2000). He also appeared in the MTV series “Much Ado About Whatever” (2001) and had recurring roles in ABC’s “Once and Again” (1999) and The WB’s “Gilmore Girls” (2000) as Dave Rygalski. His breakthrough came in 2003 when he was cast as Seth Cohen in the Fox series “The O.C.” This role made him a teen idol and solidified his presence in television. Beyond “The O.C.,” Brody pursued a film career, appearing in diverse projects from supporting roles in major films like “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (2005) and “Thank You for Smoking” (2005) to lead roles in romantic comedies like “In the Land of Women” (2007).

In the 2010s and beyond, Brody continued to expand his acting credits, taking on roles in popular films such as “Scream 4” (2011), “Shazam!” (2019), “Ready or Not” (2019), and “Promising Young Woman” (2020). He also ventured into producing, notably as an executive producer for “The Kid Detective” (2020) and a producer for the TV series “StartUp” (2016-2018). His recent work includes starring as Noah Roklov in the Netflix romantic comedy “Nobody Wants This” (2024), a performance that earned him nominations for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and a win for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. In addition to his acting and producing work, Brody is also a musician, playing drums in the bands Big Japan and The Shortcoats, and has co-written a comic-book miniseries for DC’s Wildstorm Comics.
