Teenage actor, model and singer Alec Golinger is not yet 16 but is already on the road to success. He has already enjoyed success after being cast in Opera Australia’s production of the classic La Boheme — his third opera. On screen, he has starred in a handful of short films, including 2017’s award-nominated comedy Mrs McCutcheon, and has recently completed work on Rock Sugar, a feature-length independent psychological thriller that was crowdfunded through the Indiegogo website. As a singer he has also received attention; his cover of John Legend’s classic ‘All of Me’ has been viewed thousands of times on his YouTube channel. As a model, he has worked with a number of big-name brands, including New Balance, Russell Athletics, Target, Lee Jeans, and K-Mart. When he’s not performing for the cameras, Golinger is also a taekwondo black-belt who has won national championships.
Golinger hails from Melbourne, Australia, where he still lives and attends high school. He made his on-screen acting debut in 2016, playing “the kid” in a short film called Small Beginnings, which won the Best Film Award at that year’s Sunshine Short Film Festival in Australia. The following year, he appeared in Mrs McCutcheon, which was nominated for the AACTA Award for Best Short Film. He then appeared in the bizarre comedy horror film Ghost Turd, about a spirit that goes after dog walkers who don’t clean up after their pets.
The unfortunate price of young stardom today is online bullying, and Golinger has been open about how he’s dealt with negativity from trolls, appearing in major publications such as the Herald Sun newspaper.
