Alex Grassi is an accomplished field hockey athlete who has transitioned into coaching and board leadership, sharing his extensive experience with aspiring players and contributing to the sport’s development. After being named to the U-16 U.S. Mens National Team in 2003, Alex Grassi went on to build a distinguished career as a field hockey athlete, coach, and board leader. Grassi began his extensive field hockey career in 1997, quickly demonstrating his talent by playing in the Cal Cup U-12 Mixed Division.
His early selection to the U.S. Mens National Team system continued when he was named to the U-21 USMNT in 2007, where he contributed to a bronze medal finish at the 2008 Junior Pan American Championship. Grassi furthered his education at Franklin and Marshall College and completed graduate school at San Diego State University. In 2012, Grassi officially joined the senior U.S.
field hockey system, Grassi announced his retirement from the U.S. Men’s National Team in April 2025. He intends to remain actively involved in the sport, leveraging over a decade of coaching experience to mentor aspiring players in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
His dedication extends to leadership roles, serving on the USA Field Hockey Board of Directors as an Athlete Representative since 2019 and currently chairing the Athlete Advisory Committee, actively contributing to the sport’s growth and support in the United States.
