Alexander Loginov is a biathlete from Russia who won his debut gold medal at the 2020 Antholz-Anterselva World Championships.
Loginov started his professional career in the late 2012–13 season, gaining instant success and paving the way for a highly fulfilling career after acquiring his first bronze medal at Holmenkollen in the pursuit. As part of the relay team he also earnt a well-deserved gold in Sochi.
The 2016–17 season was a hugely memorable one for Loginov when he nabbed a bronze with his relay team at the 2017 Biathlon World Championships. In the next season, Loginov, despite struggling to finish in the top 3, progressed and in the overall standings finished 23rd.
To date, the 2018/19 season marked Loginov as one of the leading Russian biathletes, and was undoubtedly his best season yet. After two third-place and two second-place finishes, he won his first WC cup title in Oberhof in the 10 km sprint, a title he’s been edging towards ever since he began his professional career.
In the 2019–20 season, Loginov saw comparable success whilst competing in Hochfilzen; finishing 3rd place in the 10 km sprint stage and 2nd in the pursuit. After nine ensuing stages failing to reach the podium, Loginov quickly recovered in Rasen-Antholz at the Biathlon World Championships, where he won his first World title in the sprint stage. The icing on the cake firmly set after he finished 3rd in the pursuit event.
