Johannes Dale is a Norwegian biathlete who burst into the World Cup in 2018, with a performance that caused a stir amongst fans and competitors alike.
Dale’s debut WC race in Nove Mesto, where he finished 15th in the sprint, along with his personal best result of 10th in the Soldier Hollow Sprint, saw the 22 year old win the IBU’s Rookie of the Season Award. What’s more, the agile biathlete finished 50th in the Total Score, paving the way for a hugely successful professional career.
Dale was largely influenced by his biathlete father and found inspiration in the many medals in the basement of their home. He began training at a young age and with hard work, determination and a strong focus, he has excelled to the level he has always strived to reach; racing in the senior class of the IBU-cup and the World Cup. Now Dale competes with the best racers in the world. When reflecting on his World Cup debut, which took place on his home soil in Holmenkollen, Dale talked about the importance of his family’s support from the crowd, at such a crucial point in life; a moment he has been waiting for since he discovered his father’s medals.
Dale’s dedication is inspiring to all; his main goal now is to reach the podium and if his recent results are anything to go by, this goal is certainly not out of reach.
