Alexis Ohanian Sr

The astounding co-founder and former executive chairman of the social news website Reddit.com, Alexis Ohanian Sr., is a technology entrepreneur, investor, and advocate for equality. He is the founder of the venture capital firm, Seven Seven Six, and is known as #BusinessDad online. He dedicates his spare time to fighting for Paid Family Leave for all American families, as well as to challenging a generation of dads to take paternity leave should they get the opportunity.

After New Yorker Ohanian graduated from the University of Virginia with degrees in commerce and history, he and friend Steve Huffman successfully pitched their idea for a “social news discussion website” to a seed company. Reddit.com was born and the rest is history. However, following the murder of George Floyd, Ohanian decided to dedicate himself to creating a more equitable world online and offline for his children to inherit. He resigned from the board of Reddit in protest and was relieved to see that his seat was filled by a Black director and that the company started taking steps to curb hate on their platform. He then co-founded Initialized, before leaving to build another venture firm, focused on software and empathy, called Seven Seven Six. In 2020, he was the lead investor in a primarily female group that was awarded a new franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League. Angel City FC will start playing in 2022. The ownership group, in which women hold a majority interest, includes 14 former members of the U.S. women’s national team, Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman, and Ohanian’s own wife, tennis star Serena Williams.

Ohanian regularly connects with his near to a million followers through Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, posting pictures and videos of his professional and personal life.
