Amber Asaly is a Los Angeles and New York-based freelance photographer with a focus on celebrity and fashion photography. Her career in photography officially began in January 2009, and she has since developed a distinct style characterized by a 90s grunge editorial aesthetic. Asaly pursued formal education in her field, attending Orange Coast College from 2009 to 2010, and later earning an Associates in Photography from the Academy of Art University between 2010 and 2014. These foundational years provided her with the technical skills and artistic perspective that would shape her professional trajectory.
Throughout her career, Asaly has photographed a range of notable personalities and contributed to significant publications. Her work includes editorial spreads for Paper Magazine, where she photographed Melanie Gaydos in a 70s punk-inspired shoot in September 2015, and Teen Vogue, for which she captured Sofia Richie in September 2015. Additionally, she photographed Bella Thorne for ASOS magazine in May 2015 and Sistine Stallone for Galore Magazine in February 2015. Her portfolio also features collaborations with C-Heads Magazine and Cake Magazine, showcasing her versatility in capturing diverse themes and subjects. From November 2015 to December 2017, Asaly also served as a Content Manager at GALORE Media Inc., where she created and directed content across various social media platforms, including Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook Live, and Galore TV, while also developing content for partnering brands’ social media efforts.
Asaly’s professional endeavors have involved collaborations with various brands and artists, demonstrating her reach across the fashion and entertainment industries. In January 2015, she was involved in the production of the G-Eazy “Tumblr Girls” music video. Her brand partnerships include working with Puma, Boohoo, and UGG, as well as contributing creative content to The Mayfair Group LLC. Her work is often recognized for its originality and unique approach to visual storytelling, as highlighted by her collaboration with styling student, Lynch, where Asaly noted the importance of originality and following one’s own rules in photography.
