Amber Midthunder is a young actress who has spent most of her life on our screens. She is currently best known for playing Kerry Loudermilk in the FX/Marvel series Legion and Rosa Ortecho in The CW’s sci-fi drama series Rockwell, New Mexico. She will also shortly be appearing as Princess Yue in a live-action series of Avatar: The Last Airbender that is due to drop on Netflix imminently. On the big screen, her starring performance as Naru in Prey, a 2022 horror movie in the Predator franchise, won her the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Saturn Awards.
Midthunder was born in Shiprock, New Mexico, in April 1997. Her parents are both involved in the acting industry, and so it was only natural that Midthunder should make her debut on film when she very young — she appeared in a film called The Homecoming of Jimmy Whitecloud when she was just four years old. Her initial acting experiences put her off, however, and she became interested in other things before returning to acting. She got her first credited role in 2008, appearing in a hit comedy-drama film called Sunshine Cleaning alongside the likes of Emily Blunt and Amy Adams.
After further film roles, Midthunder added television to her resume in 2012, appearing in episodes of Longmire. Her breakthrough role, however, came with Legion in 2017. The superhero series won critical acclaim and saw Midthunder play Kerry Loudermilk, a mutant living inside the body of another character. Her subsequent appearances in Roswell, New Mexico and her well-deserved Saturn Award sealed her reputation as a talented young actress capable of playing diverse roles.
