The brilliant sportsman Bradley Jordan Garmston is a professional footballer who plays in defence, and is best known for his time at Gillingham. He has also represented the Republic of Ireland at U-17, U-19, and U-21 levels.
Born and raised in Chorley in Staffordshire, Garmston was prolific at sport while growing up and in 2008 was ranked as one of the top sprinters for his age in the UK, finishing 2nd in the 200m at the English Schools Championships. He began his football career in 2012 at West Bromwich Albion’s academy after he was spotted playing non-league football with Sutton Coldfield Town. He progressed through the Birmingham side’s development squad and signed a professional contract in 2013. He went on loan to Colchester United the same year and then to Gillingham in January 2015. He was released by West Brom a few months later and joined Gillingham on a three-year contract in July, becoming a first-team regular at left-back by October for the 2015-16 season. After being released from the club in 2020 he joined League Two side Grimsby Town. He left the club at the end of the 2019-20 season. On the international stage, Garmston turned out for the Republic of Ireland twenty times, playing at U-17, U-19, and U-21 levels.
