Angele Anang

Angele-Anang Pokinwuttipob, known professionally as Angele Anang, was born in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, in 1994. She spent her early life in Ayutthaya and attended Joseph Ayutthaya school, Santi Asoke, and a nonformal learning school. Her early career began as a Beyoncé impersonator, a skillset that would later contribute to her unique drag performances. She also performed at the Calypso Cabaret in Bangkok, a known transgender cabaret show, establishing her presence in the performance art scene.

Anang gained widespread recognition in 2019 when she competed on the second season of “Drag Race Thailand.” Throughout the competition, she demonstrated significant skill and creativity, winning six challenges. On April 5, 2019, she was crowned the winner, making history as the first transgender winner in the entire “Drag Race” franchise. This achievement marked a turning point in her career, bringing her international attention and opportunities.

Following her win, Angele Anang expanded her career beyond Thailand. In 2019, she participated in DragCon NYC’s “All Around the World: International Drag Queen” panel, sharing her experiences and insights. She was also a featured performer in “Xtra” (2020) and “Oaklash” (2020), digital drag shows created to support performers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her acting credits include roles in “Mayhem!” (2023) as Ladyboy 2, “Shejari Shejari Pakke Shejari” (2013-2014) as an actress, and various appearances as herself in “I Can See Your Voice Thailand” (2019) and “Project Runway Thailand” (2022). She has also appeared in music videos such as “Contrast” by Preen (2019) and Troye Sivan’s “Got Me Started” (2023).
