Born Gregory D’Wayne on March 1, 1988, A’Keria Chanel Davenport, originally from Oak Cliff, Texas, embarked on her drag career in 2011. She quickly gained recognition within the drag pageant circuit, accumulating several national titles. A significant achievement came in 2017 when she was crowned Miss Black Universe, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in the drag community prior to her television appearances. Her early career showcased a dedication to the art form, leading to performances across various clubs and pageant systems globally.
Davenport rose to national prominence as a contestant on the eleventh season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ in 2019, where her talent and personality secured her a spot in the top four. During her time on the show, she won two main challenges and notably survived the series’ first-ever six-way lip-sync. Following ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’, she participated in the ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: Season 11 Tour’ throughout 2019, performing in major cities like Los Angeles and New York City. Her post-season work also included appearances in music videos for popular artists Lizzo and Taylor Swift.
In 2021, A’Keria Chanel Davenport returned to the ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ franchise, competing on the sixth season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’. While she placed 8th, her participation further cemented her legacy. Beyond competition, Davenport has expressed intentions to develop a skincare line and establish a charity supporting transgender women and homosexual youth.
