Barb Schmidt is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and spiritual teacher who has dedicated her life to spiritual development and research for over thirty years. Exuding enthusiasm and zeal, she is one of the few people who demonstrates genuine concern in all aspects of her life. Schmidt has studied with a number of well-known teachers, including Thich Nhat Hanh, Deepak Chopra, Scott Peck, and Marianne Williamson. She donated millions of dollars for children and families in need as the creator of the Spirit of Giving Network and cofounder and past president of Ronald McDonald Children Charities of South Florida.
Schmidt teamed up with Florida Atlantic University’s Peace Studies Program in 2001 to promote community conversation on the issue of inner peace. She also taught a meditation and spiritual practises class as part of Nova University’s life-long learning programme for five years. She has facilitated talks by many prominent speakers, including the Dalai Lama, Dr. Jane Goodall, Caroline Myss, James Finely, Dan Millman, and Dr. Mona Lisa Schultz over the past ten years. Schmidt is a sought-after speaker who gives talks at schools and other venues to share her message of living a fulfilling and happy life.
Schmidt established Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life in 2011, where she teaches The Practice, a three-part roadmap to practical spirituality in today’s environment. Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life, a well-known non-profit, has quickly grown to include an online community via Facebook and a weekly blog at www.peacefulmindpeacefullife.org. Schmidt is the mother of Michelle and David and lives in Boca Raton, Florida, with her husband, Dick. She continues to study meditation, spirituality, and the practice of a peaceful life.
