Billy Bonnell is an American stand-up comedian from the city of Cleburne, Texas. Along with the guitar player from 70s soft-rockers Chicago and the guy who wrote the Campell’s Soup jingle, he’s become one of its more popular exports, finding particular success out east in California. He first played live there back in 2007 and has won the San Diego’s Funniest Person award twice as well as the San Diego Comedian of the Month award. He has also toured clubs and colleges all over the United States and was a regular feature on the Ice House Chronicles podcast alongside Joe Rogan (arguably the world’s most famous podcaster). More recently, a clip of his stand-up routine called ‘What Lying was Like in the 90s’ was shared by the Comedy Central YouTube account and has been viewed 165,000 times.
Bonnell has appeared on various shows, including Discontinued, Inside Joke with Asif Ali, and The Naughty Show. He also wrote and starred in a short called Emoji Court Case and has made various appearances in films and TV series. He has several thousand followers across his various social media channels—his Twitter bio is “unfollow me to my face”—but he’s something of an old-school comedian who prefers making a roomful of people laugh to trying to get a one-liner to go viral.
