Blair Imani is a prominent American author, historian, and activist known for her impactful contributions to social justice and education. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a degree in history, Imani founded Equality for HER in 2014, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and nonbinary individuals through health education resources. This initiative has provided vital support and a platform for marginalized voices, showcasing her commitment to advocacy and community engagement.
In 2016, Imani served as a Press Officer for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, where she effectively communicated the organization’s mission and mobilized support for reproductive rights. Her role at DoSomething as the Civic Action & Campaign Lead further exemplified her dedication to youth activism, leveraging technology to inspire young people to engage in social change.
Imani is also an accomplished author, with her book “Modern HERstory: Stories of Women and Nonbinary People Rewriting History” published in 2018. This work highlights the stories of 70 influential figures who have made significant contributions to society, emphasizing the importance of representation in history. Her subsequent book, “Making Our Way Home: The Great Migration and the Black American Dream,” published in 2020, educates readers on the historical significance of the Great Migration and its impact on Black American identity.
