Carrie Manolakos is an American singer-songwriter and actress, who has achieved a particularly successful career on the stage. Manolakos also became an Internet sensation after her cover of the infamous Radiohead song ‘Creep’ went viral.
As an actress, Manolakos has appeared in many Broadway stage productions, but is perhaps most associated with her roles in Mamma Mia! as Sophie Sheridan, and on the second national tour of Wicked as Elphaba.
Manolakos had previously been part of the ensemble of the Mamma Mia! tour for six months, before being invited to join the Broadway company, replacing Carey Anderson. After some months, she then moved on to the second national tour of Wicked as the standby for Elphaba. Manolakos received outstanding reviews for her performances.
Manolakos has since racked up an impressive list of credits as a theatre performer, but is also equally well-known for her musical talent. Manolakos released her debut album, Echo, on April 2, 2012, produced by Dominick Amendum and Justin Goldner. The album debuted in the top 100 of the iTunes pop charts.
When The Huffington Post, The Daily Beast, The New Yorker, and Gawker picked up on her cover of Creep, the performance went viral, and this has a further shone a light on the musical talents of Manolakos.
Since then, the career of Manolakos has gone from strength to strength, with a focus on performing and musical theatre.
