As accomplished as one can hope to be in her discipline, Charlotte Dujardin is a British dressage rider and equestrian who has been described by experts as the most “dominant dressage rider of her era”. Boasting six Olympic medals, three of which are gold, Dujardin is tied as the most decorated female Olympian in British history. She became the first rider to hold the full set of individual elite dressage titles at the same time.
From humble beginnings in her home county of Bedfordshire, Dujardin started riding at just two years old, and rapidly developed a love for the sport. By the time she was 16, she had already won the prestigious Horse of the Year Show event on four separate occasions. In 2012 she was selected to make her very first Olympic appearance in London, where she set a new Olympic record in the team dressage. Alongside her trusty horse Valegro, she established herself on the equestrian scene by decisively winning two golds at the tournament. Her later accolades include a gold medal in individual dressage at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, two golds in the 2014 and 2015 Dressage World Cup, five golds at the European Dressage Championships and two golds at the World Equestrian Games.
Dujardin is a true British icon with a remarkable talent for horse-riding. Her popularity is such that she released a hugely successful autobiography entitled The Girl on the Dancing Horse: Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro in 2018. An incredible athlete, Dujardin revels in interacting with her hundreds of thousands of fans on her Instagram account.
