Chike Okonkwo is an actor who has excelled both in TV roles and on stage. He is best known on screen for his role as PC Clarke in New Tricks, as well as his roles in Paradox and Being Mary Jane. However, he has also appeared in some impressive on-stage performances over the span of his career.
Okonkwo’s first role was in Holby City after he was selected out of twelve thousand applicants for the 2001 BBC Talent Scheme. He was also able to train at the National Youth Theatre, which inspired his future roles on stage. Between his on-screen roles, Okonkwo starred in the National Theatre for a year, appearing in a number of shows, including the stage adaptation of His Dark Materials. He has also appeared in several Shakespeare performances and in musicals such as Into The Woods.
Okonkwo appeared in a few medical dramas and children’s shows while his TV career was taking off, and then he landed a role in New Tricks in 2003. This then led to his starring role in Paradox in 2009, again playing a police officer. Following this, Okonkwo took on some voiceover work for popular video games, including Killzone: Mercenary and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
