About

Christina Applegate was born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, on November 25, 1971, to record producer/executive Robert Applegate and singer-actress Nancy Priddy. Her parents separated shortly after her birth, and she was raised by her mother. Applegate began her acting career at a very young age, making her television debut in 1972 on “Days of Our Lives” at three months old and appearing in a commercial for Playtex nursers. Her early career included guest roles in various television series such as “Charles in Charge” (1984–1985) and “Family Ties” (1987), demonstrating her early presence in the entertainment industry.

Applegate achieved significant recognition with her role as Kelly Bundy in the Fox sitcom “Married… with Children,” which ran from 1987 to 1997. This role established her as a prominent television actress. Following the series, she continued to expand her career with leading roles in films like “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” (1991) and various independent features. She also took on the titular role in the NBC sitcom “Jesse” (1998–2000), for which she received her first Golden Globe Award nomination. Her versatility was further showcased with a Primetime Emmy Award win for her guest role in “Friends” (2003).

Her career continued to flourish with notable film performances in comedies such as “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” (2004) and its sequel “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” (2013), as well as “Bad Moms” (2016). Applegate also ventured into Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination for her debut in the musical revival “Sweet Charity” (2005). More recently, she starred in and executive produced the critically acclaimed Netflix dark comedy series “Dead to Me” (2019–2022), receiving multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her performance. In 2024, she launched a podcast, “MeSsy,” further diversifying her career.
