One of the world’s most popular entertainers, Criss Angel is a legendary magician, famous the world over for his extraordinary illusions. He is the holder of several world records, has been recognised with many of the magic world’s top awards and honours, and is the most-watched magician in television and internet history.
Born Christopher Nicholas Sarantakos, Criss Angel decided to pursue a career as a magician after graduating high school, and began touring the US with his act. In 1994, he received his television debut, appearing on ABC’s primetime special Secrets, and over the following years he developed an increasing profile in the world of magic and beyond. Today, he is known for his many extraordinary and record-breaking live shows, which have included Criss Angel Magicjam, Mindfreak Live!, and The Supernaturalists, and he partnered with Cirque du Soleil on the bestselling Criss Angel Believe. He made headlines in 2002 when he spent 24 hours underwater in a water torture cell in Times Square, and holds multiple world records including for the fastest time to escape from a straitjacket and the longest body suspension.
On television, Criss Angel has been seen in specials including SciFi Channel’s Supernatural, ABC Family’s Criss Angel Mindfreak: Postmodern Illusionist, and Spike TV’s Criss Angel BeLIEve. Besides these, he has appeared on dozens of television talk and entertainment shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Tonight Show. Angel has been named Magician of the Year by the International Magician Society on five occasions, as well as Magician of the Decade and Magician of the Century. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and is the youngest magician to have been inducted into the Magic Hall of Game.
