Arthur Melo

Arthur Henrique Ramos de Oliveira Melo, born on August 12, 1996, in Goiânia, Brazil, began his football journey with his hometown club Goiás at the age of 12. His talent was recognized early, leading to a move to Grêmio’s youth team in 2010. By January 2015, his impressive performances earned him a promotion to Grêmio’s first team, where he made his senior debut. He became a regular starter in 2017, playing a pivotal role in Grêmio’s Copa Libertadores victory that year. His style of play, drawing comparisons to prominent Spanish midfielders, attracted the attention of major European clubs.

In 2018, Arthur made a significant move to FC Barcelona for an initial fee of €31 million. During his time at Barcelona, he registered his first competitive goal for the club and contributed to their La Liga title win in the 2018–19 season. His career progression continued with a transfer to Juventus in 2020, as part of a high-profile swap deal. At Juventus, he secured a Coppa Italia title.

Arthur’s career has also included loan spells with Liverpool in the 2022–23 season, Fiorentina in 2023–24, and Girona for the remainder of the 2024–25 season. He has also been a key player for the Brazilian national team, making his senior debut in 2018 and being part of the squad that won the Copa América in 2019.
