Dan Finnerty

Dan Finnerty, born in Rochester, New York, and raised in Bath, New York, is a distinguished American actor and singer. He attended Emerson College in Boston, an institution recognized for its communication and arts programs. Finnerty’s early career included a tenure as a member of the acclaimed off-Broadway show “Stomp” in New York City, which provided a foundation for his performance career.

Finnerty gained significant recognition as the lead singer of The Dan Band, a comedy band known for its covers of female-performed pop songs with comedic alterations. His performances in major motion pictures such as “Old School” (2003), where he famously sang “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “Starsky & Hutch” (2004), and “The Hangover” (2009), further established his public profile. His work with The Dan Band led to a one-hour concert special, “Dan Finnerty & The Dan Band: I Am Woman,” directed by McG and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, which aired on the Bravo network.

Throughout his career, Finnerty has extended his comedic and musical talents to television. He has appeared multiple times as a comedy correspondent on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Jay Leno Show.” The Dan Band has also served as the house band on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “The Late Late Show,” and “Last Call with Carson Daly.” His contributions to film and television also include originating the role of Lonny in the world premiere of “Rock of Ages” in Los Angeles and co-writing the song “Look At Her” for the Netflix film “Dumplin'” (2018).
