Daniil Kvyat is a Russian professional racing driver currently competing for Lamborghini Iron Lynx in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship and part-time for SS-Green Light Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Known for his resilience and talent, Kvyat is the most successful of the four Russian Formula One drivers, boasting three podium finishes during his time in the sport from 2014 to 2020.
Kvyat began his racing career in karting before moving up the ranks in single-seater racing. He was the runner-up in the 2012 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and clinched the championship in both the 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Series and the 2013 GP3 Series. His Formula One debut came in 2014 with Toro Rosso, where he finished 15th in the World Championship, marking the start of a notable career.
In 2015, Kvyat transitioned to Red Bull Racing, achieving his first podium finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix and finishing seventh in the Drivers’ Championship. However, a controversial incident during the 2016 Sochi Grand Prix led to his demotion back to Toro Rosso. Despite facing challenges, including several retirements in 2017, he continued to demonstrate potential and was re-signed by Toro Rosso in 2019, securing a podium finish at the German Grand Prix.
After a brief stint as a reserve driver for Alpine F1 in 2021, Kvyat faced obstacles in 2022 due to geopolitical conditions impacting his participation. Undeterred, he returned to the track with Lamborghini in 2023, solidifying his status as a versatile competitor in both endurance racing and NASCAR.
