Charles Maurice Marcel Pic, born on February 15, 1990, in Montélimar, Drôme, France, began his motorsport journey in karting at the age of 13. With the mentorship of former Formula One driver Éric Bernard, Pic rapidly achieved strong results in Italian and French championships. His ascent through junior formulae began in 2006 with La Filière, where he secured a third-place finish and rookie champion title in Formula Renault Campus France. He continued to demonstrate his talent in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with Tech 1 Racing, earning two wins in both the 2008 and 2009 seasons, culminating in a third-place overall finish in 2009. His performance during this period drew attention, and he became a member of the Renault Driver Development Programme.
Pic’s career progressed to the GP2 Series, where he continued to collect victories. He joined Arden International for the 2009–2010 GP2 Asia Series and went on to win races in both the Asia Series and the main GP2 Series in 2010, finishing 10th in the drivers’ standings. In 2011, driving for Barwa Addax, he secured two more GP2 wins and finished fourth overall, showcasing consistent competitive performance. These achievements paved the way for his entry into Formula One, where he made his debut in 2012 with Marussia F1, partnering Timo Glock. After a season with Marussia, during which he gained valuable Formula One experience, Pic moved to Caterham F1 for the 2013 season on a multi-year contract.
Following his Formula One racing career, Charles Pic transitioned into business. He joined the Charles André Group, a French logistics company, and now serves as the Managing Director of their Assets Department. This move marked a significant career pivot, leveraging his strategic thinking and leadership skills in a corporate environment. In 2022, Pic further solidified his engagement in motorsport as an executive by acquiring full ownership and control of DAMS, a renowned French racing team that competes in FIA Formula 2. This acquisition demonstrates his continued commitment and passion for nurturing young talent within the motorsport world, combining his racing heritage with his business expertise.
