Daphne Bugey is one of the world’s most fascinating and well-respected perfumers. Globally renowned for her unbridled curiosity and creativity, she has created more than 123 different fragrances for the likes of Max Mara, Valentino, Kenzo, Jean Paul Gautier, DSquared2, Trussardi, Le Labo, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Issey Miyake and more.
Born and raised in Grenoble, France, Bugey knew she was destined to become a perfumer after a family trip to the world’s fragrance capital, Grasse, when she was just ten years old. From that point on she was inspired to become a “nose”, and became passionate about the world of fragrance. Constantly on the lookout for scents, she collected as many perfume bottles and advertisements as she could before taking her career to the next step with a place at the prestigious ISIPCA perfume school. Bugey joined Firmenich in 1997 and has since worked on fragrances for Louboutin, Hugo Boss and Jean Paul Gualtier. She has created 13 fragrances for the hugely popular Canadian luxury brand Dsquared including He Wood and Wood for Her.
As a perfumer, she is a free spirit who has travelled the globe enjoying nature, art, spirituality and modern adventures including paragliding and kit surfing. In both her creations and life she has a constant appetite to learn and experience everything, and her perfumery reflects her spontaneous and free outlook.
