David Del Rio is an Hispanic-American actor, director and producer, who has appeared on several well known productions on and off stage including but not limited to: Universal Studios Pitch Perfect, critically acclaimed Grease: Live! and Broadway’s In The Heights – Lin Manuel Miranda’s hit musical. Del Rio is also known for appearances in Disney’s Geek Charming, with Sarah Hyland and Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan, and his role as Felix Garcia on Nickelodeon’s The Troop, which he achieved only a year after graduating from the New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts.
Del Rio is equally as talented off screen; as he digs for intense emotion as a director and producer. Del Rio’s feature length directorial debut, Sick For Toys, encouraged non token representation of the LGBTQ+ community, as the main hero identified as such. Reviews of this Christmas Horror, a collaboration between Delco Cut Productions and Nine Ten Films, has been hailed as fully actualised, cohesive and extraordinarily well produced and directed, with influences of Simon Pegg’s Shaun of the Dead. Del Rio went on to extend his off camera career, co-founding a successful production company: Iron River Pictures. The actor and director also has a demo-reel company, entitled the tongue-in-cheek The Reel You, which continues to help actors like Mike Braxton of Chicago Fire create high quality footage to showcase their talent to fellow casting directors.
Del Rio’s most recent project is on ABC’s Baker and the Beauty – a romantic comedy that has been hailed for its lighthearted, romantic atmosphere. The show sees Del Rio star alongside Nathalie Kelley and Victor Rasuk, who plays Del Rio’s onscreen brother.
