The incredible, award-winning creative David Noton is a landscape and travel photographer, as well as a writer, publisher and teacher. He has published three books: 2008’s Waiting for the Light, 2010’s Full Frame, and 2019’s Home Patch. He has also made a film, Chasing the Light.
Born in Bedfordshire, and raised in California, England, and Canada, Noton initially joined the British Merchant Navy after school, which left him with an insatiable appetite for travel and a passion for photography. He returned to education in 1982 and studied Editorial & Advertising Photography at Gloucester College. After graduating in 1985 he became a freelance photographer, winning a number of awards, including the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in 1985, 1989 and 1990, while working for design groups, PR consultancies, advertising agencies, and the National Trust. He later joined the Telegraph Colour Library travelling the world shooting for the stock photography market. In 2001 he started writing a monthly column about his photographic travels for Practical Photography. In 2008 he launched a programme of Photography Courses and Workshops across Europe, and the following year he launched my Chasing the Light Road Show. In 2012 his Chasing the Light online magazine (which later became the f11 Photography Magazine) was launched, and from 2012 he became a Canon Ambassador, travelling the globe and photographing for them.
Noton regularly connects with his legions of followers and fans through Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, posting pictures and comments about his life behind the lens. He also has an official website, davidnoton.com.
