Dorothea Wierer is a professional biathlete who has achieved consistent success while representing Italy. She has competed in two Olympic Winter Games and won a bronze medal at both. On top of this, she recently secured two gold medals at the 2019 IBU World Championships in Östersund in the 2020 10km Pursuit and the 15km Individual in Rasen-Antholz, Italy. Wierer is no stranger to victory, and is constantly striving to beat her own personal best.
Making her first World Cup debut in 2009, Wierer showcased her extraordinary accuracy and vigorous hustle at the competition. After scoring her first World Cup general classification points in 2011, she began her streak of glory. By winning her first Biathlon World Championship medal and placing third in the Women’s relay at the Biathlon World Championships in 2013, Wierer became the first Italian woman to win a medal at the Biathlon World Championships. This established her as a force to be reckoned with.
Today, Wierer currently holds a total of 10 medals (including three Golds, four Silvers and three Bronzes). Her best years seem to be only beginning though, as the last two years saw exceptional performances for Wierer. She obtained three gold medals and two silver medals between 2019 and 2020. With just two years before the 2022 Winter Olympics in China, Wierer has a substantial amount of time to keep her streak up and keep her sights set on adding another Olympic medal to her collection.
