Echosmith is an American indie pop band that formed in February 2006 in Chino, California. The band originally consisted of four siblings: Sydney, Noah, Graham, and Jamie Sierota. Growing up in a musical household, they were influenced by artists such as Coldplay, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Smiths, The Killers, U2, Joy Division, and Fleetwood Mac. The siblings developed their skills across multiple instruments, with Graham on drums, Sydney as co-lead vocalist and playing tambourine/keyboard, Noah on bass and backup vocals, and Jamie (who departed in 2016) as co-lead singer and guitarist.
The band, initially named Ready Set Go!, achieved a significant milestone by signing with Warner Bros. Records in May 2012. Their breakthrough came with the 2013 single “Cool Kids,” which reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned quadruple platinum certification from the RIAA. This track was also Warner Bros. Records’ fifth-biggest-selling digital song of 2014, with 1.3 million downloads. The success of “Cool Kids” preceded their debut studio album, “Talking Dreams” (2013), which entered the Billboard 200 and produced another top 40 single, “Bright.” Echosmith has also garnered recognition through extensive touring, including appearances on the Vans Warped Tour and opening for artists like Owl City and Twenty One Pilots. Their music has been featured in ESPN programming and the film “Endless Love.”
In 2018, Echosmith transitioned to an independent model, forming their own label, Echosmith Music, under a distribution agreement with Warner Music Group ADA. This move marked a significant turning point, allowing them greater creative control. They released their second studio album, “Lonely Generation,” in 2020 through their new label, followed by their self-titled third album, “Echosmith,” in 2023. Beyond their original music, Echosmith has released notable covers and collaborated with artists such as Zedd, Audien, for KING & COUNTRY, and contributed the English opening song for the 25th season of Pokémon the Series. Lead singer Sydney Sierota also pursued a solo career under the name Sydney Quiseng, releasing her debut single “Wonder” in 2024 and the EP “Phases” in 2025.
