Eddie Lampert is a prominent American investor and hedge fund manager, known for his strategic acquisitions and efforts to revitalize major retail chains. After graduating summa cum laude from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1984, Eddie Lampert began his distinguished career in finance as an intern at Goldman Sachs in July 1984. He quickly advanced to their risk arbitrage department from March 1985 to February 1988, working directly under Robert Rubin. In April 1988, Lampert founded his own hedge fund, ESL Investments, Inc., in Greenwich, Connecticut, with initial seed money from Richard Rainwater.
He orchestrated the monumental merger of these two retail giants in 2005, forming Sears Holdings Corp.
