Rising star Emery Lavell J is an American television actor best known for his work on Brtb TV, the underground ballroom network. He is also a marketing specialist, host, producer, writer and model famous for his work with celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz on the New York City “Kiss & Tell” campaign for GMHC, the world’s first HIV/AIDS service organization. As a host he has presented the Hard to Swallow bi-weekly podcast which covers a range of important topics including social consciousness, black LGBTQ issues, sex and dating.

Born in the United States in 1991, Lavell J’s early career saw him appear as a guest star on shows including musical drama television series Empire and American police procedural drama television show Chicago P.D. Lavell J then began to make waves starring in several shows for the US underground ballroom network Brtb TV. Lavell J has appeared in two major programmes for the network: Triangle the Web-series and Dark Horse. He also guest starred in an episode of POSE, a US drama set in New York City’s Latino and African-American LGBTQ gender-non conforming ballroom culture scene around the eighties and early nineties.
