Emilien Jacquelin is a French biathlete and World Champion who competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Jacquelin began his ascend to prominence early on his career, after winning a bronze in 2014 at the Youth World Championships and a second bronze at the Junior World Championships in 2015 for the relay. His last junior feat took place in 2016 at the Junior European Championships in Pokljuka, winning silver in pursuit, before making his debut on the senior circuit at Ridnaun in 2018, picking up silver at the Single Mixed Relay.
Jacquelin’s debut World Cup appearance took place in 2017 but he did not achieve any success until the 2019-2020 season, where he came first in the pursuit and finished fifth overall.
Before the 2020 Antholz-Anterselva World Championships, Jacquelin was not considered one of the best on the French biathlon team. However, after achieving not one but two gold medals in both the relay and pursuit, as well as a double bronze medal in the mass start and single mixed relay, he is unquestionably back on the map.
The most recent season saw Jacquelin climb on the podium for the first time: third place in the pursuit of Hochfilzen, and second on both the mass start of Grand-Bornand and the sprint of Oberhof. With such oustanding coronations, the skier from Villard-de-lans has well deservedly entered the big leagues.
