Boris Itzkovich Escobar, known professionally as Envy Peru, was born in Trujillo, Peru, in 1989. At the age of four, she moved to the Netherlands with her mother and aunt. She later entered the world of theater and makeup, eventually establishing herself as a leading drag artist. Envy Peru gained international recognition when she was announced as one of ten cast members for the debut season of Drag Race Holland on September 9, 2020. She made history as the first Peruvian contestant in the Drag Race franchise and ultimately won the inaugural season, demonstrating a strong performance with four challenge wins out of seven competitive episodes.
Following her victory on Drag Race Holland, Envy Peru continued her career progression in television and entertainment. In July 2021, she became the first Drag Race contestant to serve as a guest judge across the franchise, appearing on Drag Race España. She has also been a head chairwoman for three seasons of the Dutch TV show Makeup Your Mind and has participated in other television programs such as “Betreden op eigen risico” and “De Verraders.” Her work extends beyond reality television to include acting roles in films like “Cuban Love” (2019) and “Wat je vind mag je houden,” as well as appearances in music videos and web series.
Envy Peru is recognized as the most followed drag queen on social media in the Netherlands. She has actively collaborated with various brands and entities, leveraging her platform to advocate for the LGBT community. In 2022, she was appointed an ambassador for Pride Amsterdam, highlighting her commitment to advocacy and representation for immigrants and the broader LGBT community. Despite facing a physical and verbal assault in Amsterdam in July 2023, she continues to pursue her career, including having her U.S. visa approved in the same month, indicating further international aspirations.
