Her career involves strategic, financial, and operational leadership across diverse sectors including Technology/Digital, Media/Entertainment, Logistics, Energy, Sport, Retail, Leisure, and Financial Services. Gillian’s approach to leadership is characterized by complete involvement, a quick understanding of situations, and an inclusive communication style, both internally and externally. She has chaired quoted companies, founder-led businesses, private equity entities, and public service organizations.
Demonstrating leadership in complex regulated markets, Gillian has worked with government and regulators. For over five years, she served with Senet, an independent body promoting responsible gambling. She also spent nine years on the Statutory Board of the Industrial Development Advisory Board (IDAB) and worked within the energy market with Elexon, and financial services on the board of Admiral Insurance. Earlier in her career, she was the Managing Director of Mail Markets during the initial regulation of Royal Mail in the early 2000s. Her contributions to the prevention of problem gambling are recognized through her CBE citation.
Beyond her board roles, Gillian is intellectually curious and open-minded, embracing diversity across cultures and geographies. She has significant international experience, both operationally and with investors, including her work with Zoo Digital (USA, EMEA, India, Southeast Asia), Jisp (with Norwegian investors), and Xpediator (Central and Eastern Europe). Her executive career included 30 years at prominent companies and brands such as Marks & Spencer, Boots, Avon Cosmetics, Littlewoods, and Royal Mail. She is also the Founder and CEO of Board Mentoring Limited, an organization focused on supporting CEOs and directors of UK and international companies.
