Gonzalo Higuaín is an Argentine professional footballer that plays as a striker for Serie A club Juventus, he goes commonly by the nickname El Pipita or Pipa by his fans. His father Jorge was also a professional footballer. Higuaín began his career with River Plate, an Argentinian football club, before catching the eye of major teams and transferring to Real Madrid in 2007 with a fee of 12 million euros. His Spanish debut saw him win several awards and honours, namely three La Liga titles and scored 107 goals in just 190 appearances.
In 2013, he moved to Napoli with a transfer fee of 40 million euros, going on to show his worth by winning the Coppa Italia during his debut season. By 2016, Higuaín was the most expensive South American footballer of all-time, when he signed to Juventus for 90 million euros. He was successful with the club and was later loaned to A.C. Milan in 2018, before being loaned to Chelsea in 2019, where he won the UEFA Europa League with the team.
Higuaín returned to Juventus in 2019 and won yet another Serie A trophy in the following season. He made his international debut for Argentina in 2009, playing for the country in three FIFA World Cups as well as three Copa America tournaments. Alongside his teammates, he also finished second place in the 2014 World Cup. Higuaín announced he would be retiring from international football in 2019, having earned overall 75 caps and scored 31 goals for his country.
