Richard Maurice Colbert, known by his stage name iHeartMemphis and later iLoveMemphis, was born on March 29, 1993, in Memphis, Tennessee. He began his music career in 2014, releasing his debut track “SnapEmUp.” His breakthrough occurred in 2015 with the release of “Hit the Quan.” This single, produced by Buck Nasty, capitalized on a popular dance move initially performed by Rich Homie Quan. iHeartMemphis spent $35 to create “Hit the Quan,” which quickly became a viral sensation, leading to its official music video release on November 12, 2015. The song achieved significant commercial success, peaking at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, number 7 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and number 65 on the Canadian Singles Chart. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA, marking a major milestone in his early career. Following this success, he released his second single, “Lean and Dabb,” on December 18, 2015.

Throughout 2015, iHeartMemphis made several notable television appearances, including performances on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Real,” which further boosted his public profile. He continued to release music, including mixtapes such as “Thank You Instagram” (2015) and “Please Excuse My Turn Up” (2016), and an EP titled “The TurnUp Kid – EP” (2016). His single “Bang Challenge” was released in 2016, followed by “Left Foot, Right Foot.” In 2017, he collaborated with rising artist Dkotic on the song “Lil Dance,” which accumulated over 1 million streams. The same year, he was featured on Teflon Don’s single “Stop & Go.” His career reflects a focus on creating engaging, dance-oriented hip-hop and pop music, leveraging social media to build and maintain a committed fanbase.
