Mariam Sayed Sameer Marbella Al-Alawi, known professionally as Ivana Alawi, was born on December 25, 1996, in the Philippines to a Filipino mother and a Moroccan father. She spent her early childhood in Bahrain before moving to Manila. Alawi began her career in entertainment in 2011, initially appearing in television roles. In 2015, she participated in the sixth season of GMA-7’s reality show ‘StarStruck,’ placing among the top 22 contestants, which led to her signing with GMA Artist Center. Her early acting credits include ‘Tween Hearts,’ credited as Mariel Rey, and various roles in shows like ‘Magpakailanman’ and ‘Juan Happy Love Story.’
Alawi gained significant recognition for her acting work with ABS-CBN, appearing as Rina in ‘Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Araw Gabi’ in 2018 and as Amor in ‘Ang Probinsyano’ in 2019. She made her film debut in ‘Open’ (2019) and was also part of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘3pol Trobol: Huli Ka Balbon!’ (2019).
