Jacques Attali is a highly acclaimed French economic and social theorist with decades of experience on scholarly writing and discussion in a wide range of topics. Born in 1943, Attali was born into a Jewish family In Algeria.
In his teenage years, his family decided to move to Paris after the start of a civil war in Algeria. Attali received his formal education in Paris where his passion for learning developed. In 1972, he received a Ph.D. in economics from the University Paris Dauphne. Shortly after earning his degree, he took a position as a civil servant in Paris.
He had a successful career teaching economics at the same university as well. Later in his career, his work in the academic field of economics was believed to be of great benefit to the European Union. He was chosen as the first head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development during the Union’s formation from 1991-1993. Attali has been recognized by numerous magazines and journals throughout his career.
He was named in Foreign Policy as being one of the greatest global thinkers in the world. His knowledge in the economic field paired with his ability to convey his message helped him showcase his special ability to help develop ideas to help problems in the economy in France and in Europe as a whole.
