Jamie Dornan was born on May 1, 1982, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He began his career in 2001 as a model, appearing in campaigns for prominent brands such as Hugo Boss, Dior Homme, and Calvin Klein. Noted for his physique, he was dubbed “the Golden Torso” by The New York Times in 2006 and was later ranked among the “25 Biggest Male Models of All Time” by Vogue in 2015. Alongside his modeling, Dornan was a musician, performing in the folk band Sons of Jim until 2008, where he co-founded their record label, Doorstep Records, and released original songs.
Dornan transitioned into acting with his debut in Sofia Coppola’s drama film ‘Marie Antoinette’ (2006). Early roles included appearances in independent films like ‘Beyond the Rave’ (2008) and ‘Shadows in the Sun’ (2009), as well as a recurring role as Sheriff Graham Humbert in the ABC fantasy series ‘Once Upon a Time’ (2011–2013). His career gained significant momentum with his critically acclaimed portrayal of serial killer Paul Spector in the crime drama series ‘The Fall’ (2013–2016), which earned him an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actor in Television and a nomination for a British Academy Television Award for Best Actor.
His global recognition expanded further with his role as Christian Grey in the ‘Fifty Shades’ film franchise (2015–2018), which, despite mixed critical reception, achieved commercial success, grossing approximately $1.32 billion worldwide.
