Emmy-nominated actress and comedian Janet Varney is best known for voicing Korra in the animated series The Legend of Korra. She is also famous for portraying Becca Barbara in comedy-drama series You’re the Worst, co-starring in the series Stan Against Evil as Sheriff Evie Barret and for hosting podcast The JV Club podcast.

Born in Tucson, USA, Varney studied theatre at San Francisco State University before starting a career in interior design. She then found her way back in acting and comedy, co-hosting The Hollywood Show with actor and comedian Brian Unger and appearing on Comedy Central in the comedy shows Back to Norm and Crossballs. In 2007 she appeared in several short films including The Losers, Random Acts of Kindness, Dress For Success, Eternal Waters and Keep Off Grass. In 2008 she landed the role of television producer Amy Miller in popular HBO television series Entourage before playing Sheriff Evie Barret in IFC’s Stan Against Evil. In 2018 she created, starred in and produced an 8 episode web series Fortune Rookie.

Varney is the creative director, producer and co-founder of San Francisco Comedy Festival SF Sketchfest, and is also the co-founder of Totally False People, a San Francisco sketch group. She has also performed with San Francisco and Los Angeles-based group Sequel 4000, and launched podcast The JV Club now hosted on Maximum Fun network and previously hosted on The JV Club .
