Jessica “Jessie” Hunkin, born on August 24, 1988, as Jessica Kaufman in Edmonton, Alberta, is a Canadian curler. Her career began with notable success in junior curling before she formed her own rink. She demonstrated her capabilities by winning several World Curling Tour events, including the 2010 Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic, the 2011 Boundary Ford Curling Classic, the 2012 Iron Trail Motors Shoot-Out, and the 2013 Avonair Cash Spiel. Her early Grand Slam appearances included the 2011 Players’ Championship, and she also participated in provincial championships, achieving a runner-up position at the 2012 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Hunkin’s career saw a significant turning point when she joined the Robyn Silvernagle rink in 2018, transitioning to play as the team’s second. This partnership quickly yielded results, with the team winning the 2018 Red Deer Curling Classic and two Saskatchewan Women’s Curling Tour events. Their performance at the 2019 Canadian Open led to a quarter-final finish. The team’s most significant achievement together was winning the 2019 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which qualified them to represent Saskatchewan at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. There, they secured a bronze medal for their province, a career highlight for Hunkin. The team continued to compete at a high level, defending their provincial title at the 2020 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts and finishing fifth at the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Following the 2021-22 season, Hunkin took over skipping duties, leading Team Hunkin in subsequent competitions. She guided her team to the semifinals of the Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic and a second-place finish at the 2022 Tour Challenge Tier 2. The team continued to compete in the Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 2023 and 2024, demonstrating consistent performance. Beyond her competitive career, Jessie Hunkin is a manager at Olson Curling Inc., further engaging with the sport at a professional level.
