Jessica “Jessie” Hunkin is a talented Canadian curler from Parkland County in Alberta. She has appeared at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts on two different occasions, winning a bronze medal at the 2019 event in Sydney, something she regards as the highlight of her career to date.
After a breakthrough junior career in which she established herself as one of the best young curlers in Canada, Hunkin formed her own rink and immediately began to secure victories in World Curling Tour events such as the 2011 Boundary Ford Curling Classic, the 2012 Iron Trail Motors Shoot-Out and the 2013 Shamrock Shotgun. She debuted in her first ever Grand Slam event at the 2011 Players’ Championship, and also played in two provincial championships in 2011 and 2012. More recently she has seen astounding success with the Silvernagle rink, after winning bronze at the famous Scotties Tournament of Hearts competition and making respectable semi-final and quarter-final finishes at the 2019 Players’ Championship and 2019 Players’ cup respectively.
Known for her ability to stay laser-focused on the rink, as well as her relentless devotion to fair play, Hunkin is admired by fans of curling and her fellow curlers alike. She will no doubt continue to perform at the highest possible levels of the sport, with a keen eye on hopefully one day making an appearance at the Winter Olympics, her greatest aspiration.
