Joe Moglia, who led Dartmouth to two Ivy League championships as defensive coordinator in the early 1980s, pivoted to the financial sector in 1984, quickly ascending the ranks at Merrill Lynch to become the top producer globally by 1988. Joining Merrill Lynch’s MBA training program, he spent 17 years with the firm, holding positions on both the Institutional and Private Client Executive Committees. In these roles, he was responsible for investment products, the insurance company, the 401(k) business, and the middle-market business. In 2001, Moglia was appointed CEO of TD Ameritrade, where he initiated a remarkable transformation.
Moglia maintains an active role in both sports and finance today, embodying unique leadership across diverse fields. He continues his involvement with Coastal Carolina University as Chair of the Coastal Carolina Athletics Division, Executive Director for Football, and Executive Adviser to the President. In the financial sector, he serves as Chairman of Fundamental Global Investors and Capital Wealth Advisors. Additionally, Moglia co-founded FG New America Acquisition Corp in 2020, further solidifying his diverse and impactful career trajectory and continued influence in both the business and athletic worlds.
