Olympic gold medal winner John Shuster is a professional curler, and has competed in an impressive four Olympic games and nine World Championships.
Shuster made his World Championship debut back in 2003, playing for Pete Fenson’s team and returning in the 2005 Championships. The team went on to be selected at the US Olympic Curling Trials, playing at the 2006 Winter Olympics and winning a bronze medal. He then went on to captain the team at the 2009 World Championships, finishing fifth and being selected to represent the US at the 2010 Winter Olympics yet again. Shuster then formed his own team, going on to win bronze medals at the US Men’s Curling Championships in 2012 and 2013 and qualifying to represent his nation at the 2014 Winter Olympics for a third time. His incredible performances continued, leading the USA team to their first ever gold medal in curling in 2018 Winter Olympics. He and his team took home gold medals at both the 2019 and 2020 US Men’s Curling Championship, and most recently he has also started competing in the mixed doubles event, winning gold in 2019 and silver in 2020.
This star of Team USA is widely regarded as one of the best curlers to ever come out of the country. Shuster’s career shows no signs of slowing down, and he now has his sights set on the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
