About

Jon Dalton, known professionally as Jonny Fairplay, was born on March 11, 1974, in Danville, Virginia. He attended George Washington High School and later Virginia Tech. Following his education, he relocated to Washington, D.C., and Portland, Oregon, before settling in Los Angeles. Fairplay initially established himself in professional wrestling in 1998 in North Carolina, and later in Oregon, where he founded his own promotion, New Dimension Wrestling. During this period, he also worked as a promoter and commentator and hosted a weekly online professional wrestling radio talk show. Prior to his reality television debut, he served as a personal assistant for professional wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper for an 18-month period.

Fairplay gained widespread recognition after his appearance on the seventh season of *Survivor: Pearl Islands* in 2003. During this season, he employed a notable strategy, colloquially known as the “dead grandma” lie, which gained him sympathy and strategic advantage within the game, ultimately leading him to a third-place finish. This move was later acknowledged by host Jeff Probst as “the greatest lie in *Survivor* history.” His participation in the show established his persona as a formidable and controversial contestant.

Following his *Survivor* debut, Fairplay continued his career in professional wrestling, signing with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and making appearances from 2004 to 2005, engaging in feuds and brief non-wrestling roles at events like Final Resolution and Destination X. He also made subsequent appearances in other promotions, including Ring of Honor in 2007, Dragon Gate USA in 2011, and the West Coast Wrestling Connection starting in 2014, where he served as an on-screen manager. In 2008, he returned for *Survivor: Micronesia*, finishing in twentieth place. Fairplay was inducted into the Xfinity “Survivor Hall of Fame” in 2013, a rare distinction for a non-winner. He has also been a contestant on various other reality shows including *The Celebrity Newlywed Game*, *Celebrity Poker Showdown*, *Celebrity Fear Factor*, *Pawn Stars*, and *House of Villains* in 2023, where he placed fourth. In 2025, he competed on the game show *The Floor*.
