Jordan Alexander Love was born on November 2, 1998, in Bakersfield, California. He attended Liberty High School, where he began his football career, initially as a backup quarterback before becoming the varsity starter in his junior year. In his senior year, Love passed for 2,148 yards and 24 touchdowns, alongside rushing for 806 yards and eight touchdowns, leading Liberty to the State semi-final. He committed to play college football at Utah State University, where he saw significant growth, both physically and in his skills. After redshirting his first year, he started the final six games of his freshman season in 2017, completing 129 of 235 passes for 1,631 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. His performance earned him the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after his debut at UNLV.
His sophomore season in 2018 was a breakout year, where he started all 13 games, completing 267 of 417 passes for a school record 3,567 yards with 32 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was named MVP of the 2018 New Mexico Bowl and led his team to an 11–2 record, ranking No. 22 on the AP poll. Despite a coaching change and turnover in the offensive line in 2019, Love still performed, passing for 3,402 yards and 20 touchdowns. He decided to forgo his senior year and declared for the 2020 NFL draft, finishing his college career with 8,600 passing yards, 60 touchdowns, 29 interceptions, and 403 rushing yards with 9 rushing touchdowns.
Love was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round (26th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. This move garnered significant media attention as the Packers already had an MVP quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. Love spent three years as a backup, learning behind Rodgers, before being named the starting quarterback for the 2023 NFL season. He led the Packers to the playoffs in his first two seasons as a starter, securing a playoff victory against the Dallas Cowboys in 2023. In July 2024, Love signed a four-year extension worth $220 million, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in NFL history at the time. He has continued to demonstrate his capabilities, navigating injuries, and showing progress as a prominent figure for the Green Bay Packers.
