Joshua Seth Freedman was born in Kent, Ohio, on December 2, 1970. He pursued his education at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, earning a BFA in 1991. Early in his career, Seth became a prominent figure in the animation industry. He gained significant recognition as the voice of Tai Kamiya, the leader of the Digimon, a role he maintained across the hit TV series and numerous movies for over 25 years. His versatile voice talents also contributed to other iconic anime characters, including Tetsuo in “Akira,” Young Knives in “Trigun,” 009 in “Cyborg Soldier 009,” Shobu in “Duel Masters,” and Alpha 5 in “Power Rangers Turbo.” Seth’s work extended to American animated productions as well, with roles in beloved shows such as “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Rugrats,” and “Transformers.” He also served as the promo announcer for the Kids WB programming block and Fox Kids Saturday Mornings.
From 2006 to 2020, Seth transitioned from primary voice acting to touring globally with his award-winning comedy mind-reading show, “Mind Magic LIVE.” During this period, he earned accolades from Hollywood’s Magic Castle and appeared in five television specials in Japan and South Korea, performing at over 2,000 events in more than 30 countries. Despite his touring schedule, he returned to voice acting specifically for the “Digimon Adventure tri.” film series between 2016 and 2018, reprising his role as Tai Kamiya. He continued this role in “Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna” in 2020. In December 2022, Seth officially returned to non-Digimon voice acting, taking on the role of Kaneda in “The Prince of Tennis,” marking a broader resurgence in his voice acting career. Beyond entertainment, Seth is also a motivational speaker and the author of “Finding Focus In A Changing World,” a book focusing on peak performance. He has presented at institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and Oxford, and for major corporations including Pfizer, Uber, Adobe, Deloitte, and Disney, sharing insights on unlocking potential.
