Rising star Kelly Agbowu is an all-round performer who has appeared in musical theatre, film, commercials, and television. She originated the role of May in the brand new musical Baddies at the Unicorn Theatre, and previously performed in The Book of Mormon in London’s West End and toured the UK and internationally with Disney’s The Lion King. Agbowu’s first feature film Dreams of a Life for Film 4 was recently aired on Channel 4. She has filmed commercials for Britain’s Got Talent, Nokia, Skype and Halifax, and was also the lead singer of multi-function band Motown Gold, touring the UK with the group. Her television appearances so far include Cop School for CBBC and Galaxy, and she also sung backing vocals for ITV’s Superstar.
Born in Croydon, London, Agbowu trained at the London School of Musical Theatre. She was a member of the original ensemble in Waitress the Musical, playing Nurse Norma in the West End show , and in December 2019 she joined the cast of Les Misérables when it reopened at the Sondheim Theatre. Off-West End she has performed in The Human Comedy and Through The White, both at The Old Vic, as well as touring the world with The Lion King, and she also appeared in numerous regional productions including as a soloist in Rent (Greenwich) and in The Wizard of Oz at Birmingham Rep.
gbowu is firmly establishing herself as a leading musical theatre artist, whilst also embracing as many fields of entertainment as possible as she progresses her career.
