The inspirational Kheris Rogers is an actress, musician, entrepreneur, author, and social media influencer. She founded the clothing line Flexin’ In My Complexion because she was bullied at school for her dark skin. She made her acting debut as Bel on Brat TV’s Chicken Girls, and is a part of the girl group Run the World. She is the world’s youngest NYFW fashion designer, and she recently won a Teen Vogue 21 Under 21 award.
Los Angeles native Rogers was inspired to begin her own clothing line after being bullied for her dark skin complexion in school. She founded Flexin’ In My Complexion at the age of ten, and it wasn’t long before her story, with the help of a tweet from her older sister, Taylor, went viral. The brand message was to combat racism, colourism and to encourage confidence especially for individuals of colour. The tweet led to an outstanding amount of support from several celebrities, including Alicia Keys, Lena Waithe, Steve Harvey, and Beyoncé, who even featured Rogers on her website. Rogers was subsequently profiled in such publications as The Independent, BuzzFeed, and The Huffington Post. As she grew up, her popularity exploded on Instagram, and she has now amassed more than 315k to her account. She also pursued her musical ambitions and became a member of the girl group Run the World, as well as releasing music under her own name, Kheris. Her debut picture book, Shine Bright, which encourages children everywhere to love the skin they are in, is set to be published in 2022.
Rogers regularly connects with her hundreds of thousands of followers and fans through Instagram, posting pictures and videos about her creative life. She is also available for that personalised shout-out via the Cameo platform, and has a dedicated YouTube channel, Kheris Poppin.
